Some artists challenge the way we see the world. Sisi Biedermann reminds us to notice the beauty that has been there all along.
I first encountered Sisi Biedermann’s work while visiting exhibitions around Second Life, most recently at Rainbow Painters.
Her paintings immediately caught my attention.
They stood out from much of the artwork I had been seeing—filled with gardens, flowers, quiet landscapes, and a sense of peace that seemed to linger long after I had moved on to the next image.
When I invited Sisi to exhibit at Maison de la Chouette, I welcomed the chance to spend more time with her work. As I wandered through the gallery, looked back at earlier exhibitions, and learned more about the artist herself, a simple thread began to emerge.
Again and again, I found myself returning to the same theme: nature.
Whether inspired by walks through the Danish countryside, peaceful corners of Second Life, or places shaped by imagination, Sisi creates images that invite us to look a little closer and appreciate the quiet moments that are so easily overlooked.
Her paintings are colorful and inviting, but behind them is an artist whose greatest inspiration isn’t technique or style. It’s the simple joy of paying attention.

Sisi Biedermann Return to Art
Sisi Biedermann joined Second Life in 2007, although she says she never imagined how important it would become in her life.
Long before that, she had discovered a love of painting. As a young woman she enjoyed drawing and working with oils, but like so many artists, life took her in other directions. Marriage, family, children, and work filled the years, and painting quietly slipped into the background.
Everything changed decades later.
Around the age of fifty, her son encouraged her to begin again, giving her canvases and acrylic paints as a gift. It didn’t take long for the spark to return.
Before long she was exhibiting her work, selling paintings, and rediscovering the creative passion she had set aside years before.
It was the beginning of a new chapter—one that eventually grew to include photography, digital art, and the creative possibilities of virtual worlds.
Today she continues to paint with acrylics while creating photographic and digital artwork inspired by both the real and virtual worlds she explores.
Inspired by Nature
Nature lies at the heart of almost everything Sisi creates.
She carries a camera with her wherever she goes, photographing landscapes, gardens, flowers, and the quiet places that catch her eye. Those walks are more than an opportunity to collect images.
“I feel I can meditate while walking looking for nice and quiet places,” she says.
That same search continues in Second Life, where she is drawn to peaceful landscapes and gardens that often inspire her digital work.
Whether exploring a forest path in Denmark or discovering a hidden garden in a virtual world, Sisi is drawn to places that invite reflection rather than spectacle. Those quiet moments often become the starting point for her artwork.
She describes herself as “a happy soul,” and says many of her images come from her romantic side. Looking through her work, it’s easy to see both.
More Than One Medium
Although many visitors first notice Sisi’s paintings, her creative life extends well beyond the canvas.
She paints with acrylics, creates photographic art in both the physical world and Second Life, and enjoys exploring digital techniques that blur the boundaries between photography and painting.
Each medium allows Sisi to express the same enduring themes of nature, beauty, and imagination in different ways.
“I still develop my style and will never get tired of making art.”
Sisi Biedermann: Magic Art at Maison de la Chouette
Walking through Maison de la Chouette this month feels a little like wandering through someone’s favorite garden. Soft watercolor flowers, quiet country lanes, and peaceful landscapes fill the rooms, but what lingers isn’t any single painting—it’s the feeling they create together.
The exhibition reflects the same qualities Sisi describes in her own life: a love of nature, an appreciation for quiet places, and the ability to find beauty in ordinary moments.
From the welcoming cat at the entrance to the Winery, flowers, and countryside scenes throughout the gallery, each piece feels like another glimpse into the world as she sees it.

Visitors may have encountered Sisi’s work at Rainbow Painters, Lin C Gallery, my floor at Limoncello and other galleries throughout Second Life.
Her exhibitions have also been featured several times by Inara Pey, who has praised both the originality of her mixed-media approach and the imagination found throughout her work.
Although the subjects vary from one exhibition to the next, a love of beauty, nature, and imagination remains the common thread running through Sisi’s work.
Owl Notes
Spending time with Sisi’s work reminded me that art doesn’t always have to challenge us or ask difficult questions.
Sometimes it simply reminds us to notice the beauty around us.
A country lane.
A quiet garden.
Flowers after the rain.
The peaceful corner of a virtual world.
That may be Sisi Biedermann’s greatest gift as an artist—not simply painting beautiful places, but helping us notice the beauty that surrounds us every day.
As Sisi herself says:
“When a viewer sees my work for the first time I would love if they can see the soul in my paintings as well as my love for nature.”
