Explore the Enchantment of Monte Corse in Second Life

A journey into Second Life’s mountain sanctuary

In Second Life, every now and then you stumble onto a place that feels more like a story than a build. Monte Corse is one of those rare finds. It sits along the winding Circuit de Corse, just across from the Corsica South Coasters Tourist Center.

The mountain park calls you to wander its trails, climb a little higher, and see what you discover. There are plenty of beautiful gardens and retreats in Second Life, but Monte Corse feels different. It carries the mark of care and imagination. It’s more than a pretty sim, it’s a landscape shaped with heart.

A Labor of Love in Virtual Stone

Monte Corse is part of my home community, Corsica South Coasters. It was created by my best friends CK (Ceakay Ballyhoo), one of our founding members. CK is not only a builder but also a gifted artist whose work you can find on her blog and Flickr.

You can feel the care she put into this place. Every trail. Every view. Every stone that lines the path.

The mountain invites you to climb. Some trails are gentle and easy to follow. Others ask a little more from you, with scrambles and steep spots that feel like a real hike.

Each step is a reason to slow down. To breathe. To take in the wide beauty of Corsica’s mainland. This is virtual hiking at its best. The journey matters just as much as where you arrive.

Stargazing

Trails That Tell Stories

Stargazing Higher Up the Mountain

As you climb higher up Monte Corse, you’ll find the Geo Dome. It’s a lovely spot where the night sky opens up above you. Be sure to grab the free Stars EEP when you arrive. You will need it to see the stars and shooting meteors streak across the darkness. There’s something magical about stargazing here that feels almost as wonderful as the real thing. Plus, the EEP makes a sweet little keepsake from your visit.

🐑 Stephen the Shepherd’s Domain

Along the trails, you might meet Stephen the Shepherd. He’s a bit grumpy but harmless, tending his sheep among the mountain grass. Stephen has become quite the local character. It’s best to let him be and just enjoy watching him work. He gives the place that lived-in feeling part of what makes Monte Corse special.

📖 The Wildlife Logger’s Journal

At the entrance, there’s an animal spotting logbook waiting for visitors who like to keep track of what they see. You’ll spot owls (my favorites!), sheep, and other surprises as you explore. The logbook is a fun way to share your discoveries with other visitors and see what they’ve found too.

The Hikers Inn: Where Stories Find Their Home

On the mountain sits the Hikers Inn—a cozy retreat that feels like true mountain hospitality. After hiking the trails, there’s nothing better than relaxing on the inn’s porch. From here, you can see across the whole Corsica South Coasters community. Rolling hills and waterways stretch out before you, along with the quiet activity of our thriving mainland neighborhood.

The inn has everything you need. Including comfortable beds if you want to stay longer. Breakfast to start your day, cold drinks, and hearty BBQ dinners. It’s perfect for chatting with friends, meeting fellow hikers, or just sitting quietly and taking in the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Places that nurture wonder and help people feel like they belong.

We love when visitors share their snapshots in our Flickr group and help document the stories of this ever-growing space. You become part of what makes Monte Corse special just by being there.
