Born from passion and community, IndieSpectrum Radio’s history is rich. And its future shines even brighter.
After 17 years of passion and persistence, the team of Fox, Ninja, and Jade are looking ahead. Their vision is simple but powerful: keep IndieSpectrum Radio (ISR) alive, keep it original, and keep it community-driven.

The Five Pillars of the Future
The owners have mapped out their path in five key areas:
- 🎛️ Technical Stability – SSL-secured streaming, automated systems, and smooth performance across all browsers. (Ninja already has this well underway!)
- 📈 Audience Growth – Aiming for a 20% increase in listener interaction and requests.
- 🎤 Artist Pipeline – Onboarding at least 30 new musicians, with regular features and spotlights.
- 🤝 Community Engagement – Partnering with SL venues, co-sponsoring events, and growing ISR’s social presence.
- 💜 Sustainability – Donations and sponsorships that cover costs while keeping the station nonprofit and artist-first.
These are ambitious goals, but they echo the same grassroots energy that first brought ISR to life in 2007.

Why It Matters
Second Life has thousands of residents who love music, but not all know that live, original performances exist here. Fox remembers how powerful it was to hand out radios at welcome areas. Helping new residents discover live music for the first time.
That spark of discovery remains. Every request made on IndieSpectrum Radio connects a listener to an artist. Every venue that streams ISR gives visitors a chance to hear something new. Every track added by a musician strengthens the culture of live, original music in Second Life.
IndieSpectrum Radio is more than a station. It’s a nonprofit platform proving that community and creativity can thrive in a virtual world.
Artists at the Heart of IndieSpectrum
IndieSpectrum has always been powered by musicians. Every song on the stream is an original voice that might not have been heard otherwise. Over the years, hundreds of SL performers have become part of this story. Some we’ve mentioned already, and there are so many more.
Here are two who capture the spirit of IndieSpectrum radio:
🎥 Watch Whirli Placebo ->
Whirli is one of SL’s most prolific original songwriters, sharing heartfelt originals that continue to resonate with listeners on ISR and across the grid.
🎥 Vinnie Show →
Vinnie’s warmth, humor, and unforgettable voice made him a community favorite. Though he has since passed, his music remains part of IndieSpectrum’s heartbeat.

A Community in Motion
The momentum is real. With outreach from co-owner Jade Jannings, venues are starting to stream again and performers are preparing to submit tracks. Meanwhile, listeners are already making requests from across the world.
Co-owner Ninja Antwoord has also equipped IndieSpectrum with a fresh toolkit for today:
- ✨ Live Request System – Pick your favorite track and watch it queue instantly → Request a Song
- 📱 Mobile + Desktop Ready – Stream seamlessly on any device → Listen Live
- 🎵 Fast Music Submission – Upload originals in minutes → Submit Your Music
- 🔗 Easy Embeds – Add IndieSpectrum to your website or venue board → Embed the Player
Together, these steps make ISR feel less like “old radio” and more like a living, interactive platform. It’s not just returning — it’s leveling up.
“We’re building the future of community-driven music: more talent, more interaction, more ways to connect. Let’s do this together!” — Ninja Antwoord
“We were built on community trust from the start.” — Fox Reinsch, Founder
