IndieSpectrum Radio: The Dream Team Rebuilding the Future

IndieSpectrum Radio has always been a labor of love. For more than 17 years it has survived on passion, not profit. Today, that passion burns brighter than ever — thanks to a trio of co-owners carrying the dream forward.

  • Fox Reinsch – The visionary founder who launched IndieSpectrum radio in 2007 and continues to guide its heart and soul.
  • Ninja Antwoord – The technical wizard rebuilding IndieSpectrum from the ground up.
  • Jade Jannings – The community connector, keeping IndieSpectrum Radio visible through venues, performers, and outreach.

Together, they are shaping a new era for Second Life’s original music station.

Fox: The Heart of the Beginning

Fox still carries the vision that started it all in 2007. His belief in original music, freely shared and fairly promoted, remains the backbone of IndieSpectrum Radio. While Ninja and Jade handle daily operations, Fox’s steady hand ensures that ISR never loses sight of its roots.

Ninja: Rebuilding From the Ground Up

Co-owner Ninja Antwoord has taken on the massive task of modernizing ISR’s entire infrastructure. He has created a new broadcast and request system, hosted on indiespectrum.com and mirrored on his hybrid hub secondlife.music.

What does this mean for listeners?

  • A clean new interface for browsing and requesting music.
  • Live Top 10 Requests and Recently Played lists.
  • Direct links to buy music from the artists.
  • A smarter system that balances requests so everyone gets heard.

For musicians, Ninja has built a new submission system, making it simple to upload original tracks. He also prepared full SSL-secured streaming, so players will work seamlessly across browsers without click-to-allow barriers.

“IndieSpectrum Radio is where Second Life and indie music collide — live requests, fresh original tracks, and a growing lineup of artists. We’re building the future of community-driven music: more talent, more interaction, more ways to connect.” — Ninja Antwoord, Co-Owner

Jade: Connecting the Community

While Ninja rebuilds the tech, Jade Jannings is focused on people. She has been reintroducing IndieSpectrum to venues and performers across the grid. Many remember IndieSpectrum from years past, and Jade says the response has been enthusiastic.

Her work includes:

  • Conversations with venue owners and musicians.
  • Managing artists like Twostep Spiritweaver.
  • Using ISR’s SL group and Facebook page to promote shows.
  • Creating posters and promotional kits with updated information.
  • Setting up Now Playing boards, radios, and group joiners at her venue, The (virtual) Hotel California, and through her own JJ’s Music Promotion agency.

“Promotion is my strong suit. From posters and profile picks to group posts and Facebook updates, I use every tool I can to keep IndieSpectrum on people’s radar in Second Life.” — Jade Jannings, Co-Owner

Venues such as The Merry Pranksters and The Rockin’ Roost Roadhouse are already streaming IndieSpectrum Radio again. Others are asking about jingles and simulcast opportunities. Jade is also eager to bring back open mics and simulcast events. Echoing the early days when live showcases made IndieSpectrum such a vital part of SL’s music culture.

A Team With One Goal

Fox, Ninja, and Jade bring different strengths, but they share the same mission. Keep IndieSpectrum Radio alive. Keep it original. Keep it for the artists and listeners who need it most.
